Young Crusaders loose forward re-signs for two more years
The Crusaders have continued their strong continuity into the coming years with another re-signing, this time securing young loose forward Xavier Saifoloi for another two years.
The young loose forward out of Botany Downs College in Auckland, made his debut for the Crusaders this year against the Western Force.
Saifoloi plays for Waikato in the Bunnings NPC competition, after making his debut against Hawke’s Bay in 2023.
The 22-year old is excited to be staying at the Crusaders long term, after getting to understand the club on a deeper level.
“It’s pretty awesome to be able to stick around for a few more years,” Saifoloi tells the Crusaders on a statement.
“The main driver for me to stay around is how much people care for each other at this club.”
Saifoloi says that his family’s support has meant a great deal to him, and he’s also been inspired by the environment the Crusaders created in 2025.
“My family are big Crusaders supporters, so it was cool to pull on the jersey and get my cap number, that was an unreal feeling.
“David Havili mentioned in our pre-season that we needed everyone all in, and I guess that showed and helped our success on and off the field,” Saifoloi says.
“I’m here to be a Crusader. I’m here to learn and grow – as a player and as a person.”
Saifoloi is now contracted at the Crusaders until 2027, giving him the opportunity to play at the new Te Kaha stadium which opens next year.
