The 16-cap lock has signed on a season-long deal, which will start with the Bulls’ upcoming Currie Cup campaign, bringing to an end his two-year stint with Perpignan, who he joined after the Springboks’ World Cup triumph in France in 2023.

Orie will make the move to Pretoria alongside fellow Springbok Jan Serfontein, who has signed for the United Rugby Championship runners-up on a three-year deal having spent the last eight years with Montpellier in the Top 14, as reported by RugbyPass in 2024.

The pair, both 32 years of age, began their careers with the Bulls.

In a bumper day of signings, the Bulls have also announced the signing of scrum-half Paul de Wet, also previously reported by RugbyPass

These signings come a matter of days after former South Africa boss Jake White’s tenure as head coach came to an end.

The Bulls have already recruited Springboks fly-half Handre Pollard ahead of next season, as well as Serfontein’s Montpellier team-mate Nico Janse van Rensburg.
