Soyaux Angoulême XV Charente
Soyaux Angoulême XV Charente, more commonly known amongst French fans as Soyaux Angoulême or SA XV Charente, is a French rugby union team that currently plays in the Pro D2.
The club was officially established in 1910 as the Sporting Club d’Angoulême (SCA). The rugby team was part of this organisation until 2003, when it became independent and was known as Sporting Club d’Angoulême Rugby. Then, in 2010, the club merged with Rugby Club Soyaux and Soyaux Angoulême XV Charente was formed.
After the club’s 2010 merger, their first season was a success. The team won the 2010-11 Féderale 3 season and was promoted to Fédérale 2. The club’s 2013-14 season was incredibly positive and the side won all 25 matches that they played. These victories earned them promotion to Féderale 1.
In their second season in Féderale 1, they gained promotion to the second division, and for the first time in their history, competed in the Pro D2. The club has remained at this level ever since.
SA XV Charente have enjoyed their fair share of ups and downs but have remained steady in the Pro D2 in the past few years. We’re excited to see more victories from the side in the future.
