Japan Rugby League One outfit Yokohama Canon Eagles have announced the signing of Italian international Dino Lamb for the 2025/26 season.

The 27-year-old was heavily linked with a move to France, with Brive reportedly keen on the 12-times capped player. However, Lamb, who played over 100 games for Harlequins after coming through the academy,  has opted to go further afield.

Lamb is one of nine recruits made by the club after a disappointing campaign, which saw them win only a third of their 18 games. He will be coached next season by former All Blacks assistant coach, Leon McDonald, who returns to the country after previous playing spells with the Yamaha Jubilo and Kintetsu Liners clubs.

His nine-year stay at Harlequins ended in disappointment, with the 1.99-metre lock missing the second half of the season after injuring his shoulder during the Six Nations.

“It is an incredible honour to be a part of such a respected and highly aspirational club,” Lamb said.

“I am ready to work hard, contribute in every way, and continue to grow both as a player and as a teammate.

“I look forward to integrating into the culture of this club, connecting with our incredible supporters, and giving my all every day for the team. I can’t wait to meet everyone at the club and experience everything that makes this team and Japanese rugby so special.”
