Sarah Bern Bio

Known for her powerful running skills, Sarah Bern currently represents Bristol Bears Women. She started her rugby career in the back row but she now plays as a tighthead prop. Bern made her debut appearance for England in 2016 and she was the team’s youngest player at the 2017 Rugby World Cup

Born on 10 July 1997, Bern first played rugby when she was 11 years old. A self-confessed lover of sports, she has also competed in netball, basketball, football, cricket and athletics.

After earning her stripes with the England U20s team, Bern was signed to the senior squad in 2016. She was successful from the off, competing against France and the USA during the 2016 Women's Rugby Series.

In 2017, Bern was selected for the World Cup squad and played in four of the team's five matches. Her accomplishments included scoring a try during the semi-finals, helping England to secure their 20-3 victory over France. As a result, she was voted Player of the Match.

Two years later, in 2019, Bern won her first Grand Slam. Her play was crucial to the team's success; she started in each game and scored five tries during the tournament. As a result, she was named as England Women's Player of the Year.

Next, in 2022, Bern earned her 50th cap. She achieved this at the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup, where she celebrated by beating Australia 41-5 in the quarter-finals.

A dynamo on the field, Bern has secured several other awards. Her highlights include making the roster for World Rugby’s Dream Team of the Year in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

With power and versatility, Sarah Bern never fails to deliver an exciting performance. We can't wait to see what she achieves next.
