World Rugby has unveiled its ticketing programme for the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 in Australia, outlining what it calls the “biggest and most accessible” tournament in the competition’s history.

Over 2.5 million tickets will be made available to fans.

Ticket prices start at AUD$40 for adults. More than one million seats will be offered at under AUD$100. Children’s tickets begin at $20, with under-twos allowed in for free. The approach is plainly designed to bring families into the stands and broaden the tournament’s reach beyond the usual suspects.

The tournament runs from 1 October to 13 November 2027 and will feature 24 teams for the first time, a major expansion with Alan Gilpin has described as ‘damn exciting’.

Fans will be able to register for a presale from 29 July 2025, with the first tickets going on sale in February 2026, following the December tournament draw and the January schedule release.

A new feature in the sales plan is the Superfan Pass. Costing AUD$750, it gives holders priority access to buy up to four tickets per match, for all 52 games — including the opener in Perth and the final in Sydney.

The kicker? Only 2,027 of these non-transferable passes will be sold, beginning 5 August 2025.

Premium experience and hospitality packages for eight matches, including the final, will go live on 30 July. Travel-inclusive deals are set to follow in 2026. World Rugby is pitching this as a chance to create “unforgettable experiences.”

Speaking at the launch in Sydney, World Rugby Chair Brett Robinson said: “This ticketing program has been designed with one simple principle: put the fans first. For the first time in over two decades, Men’s Rugby World Cup returns to Australian shores, and we’re determined to make it bigger, bolder, and more accessible than ever before.

“With more than 2.5 million tickets available, a wide range of pricing options, and innovations like the Superfan Pass, we’re giving every fan — whether lifelong supporter or first-time attendee — the chance to be part of something truly special.

“Rugby World Cup 2027 is more than a tournament; it’s a celebration of everything great about our game. It’s about reigniting the love for rugby, inspiring a new generation, and showcasing our values to the world. We want every ticket, every cheer, every moment to help grow the game worldwide,” he said.

The digital ticketing platform will be fully accessible and free of hidden charges. Wheelchair-accessible seating, free companion tickets, and mobility-friendly sections will be part of the offering.

The tournament is expected to bring in around 250,000 overseas visitors and generate AUD$1.3 billion in direct tourism spend. That’s the headline figure. Beneath that, World Rugby is also chasing a grassroots boost, with a goal of 200,000 registered rugby participants in Australia by 2029.

Qualifying for the expanded 24-team tournament is already underway. Hong Kong China and Zimbabwe have recently booked their spots via regional titles. South American and Pacific qualifiers are set follow hot on their heels.

A last-chance qualification tournament is set for Dubai in November.

For fans looking to secure tickets early, registration is now open at rugbyworldcup.com/2027.
