Fiji player ratings vs Scotland | 2025 Summer tour
Fiji player ratings: The Flying Fijian once again showed they are a force at Test level, putting Gregor Townsend’s side to the sword on a scoreline of 29-14 in Suva.
After pushing the Wallabies all the way last weekend in Newcastle, Fiji didn’t just take the opportunity against Scotland – they tore into it.
Here’s how Mick Byrne’s side rated against Scotland:
1. Eroni Mawi – 6
Put under pressure by Scotland’s scrum early on but stuck to his task in the loose and didn’t wilt as the game wore on.
2. Tevita Ikanivere – 8.5
Skipper’s performance. Steered the line-out maul like a pro and powered over for Fiji’s opening try. Constantly barking orders and leading from the front.
3. Mesake Doge – 6
Scrum time was tough against Rory Sutherland, but Doge brought his usual aggression around the park and was part of a front row that absorbed more than it gave.
4. Isoa Nasilasila – 7
Did the dirty work well. Reliable in the air and around the fringes. Subbed late on but played his part in keeping Scotland out for long periods.
5. Temo Mayanavanua – 7.5
A huge physical presence. Trucked it up with menace and constantly disrupted Scottish lineout ball. Quietly dominant.
6. Lekima Tagitagivalu – 7
Got through a big shift without any headline moments. Industrious and physical, especially in phase play defence. Was Fiji’s leading tackler.
7. Elia Canakaivata – 7.5
A real nuisance. Disrupted breakdowns and nearly bagged a try at the death after a length-of-the-field break. Dynamic in open play.
8. Viliame Mata – 8
Near vintage Big Bill. Led the carrying effort, repeatedly smashing the gainline and drawing in defenders with his 125kg frame. Lucky not to have scored himself. Taken off just after the hour.
9. Simione Kuruvoli – 7.5
Marshalled the tempo well and kept Scotland guessing. A couple of slick passes and smart decisions helped Fiji keep their foot on Scotland’s throat.
10. Caleb Muntz – 7
Controlled things calmly from fly-half. Nailed the clutch kicks, including a tricky conversion from the touchline, and was alert to the space for Ravouvou’s try. A few too many careless moments from the Fijian Drua fly-half to score any higher here.
11. Jiuta Wainiqolo – 9
Box-office stuff. His solo try lit up Suva and he terrorised Scotland’s edges, even he let himself down with a neck-roll, but a match-winner regardless. Ended with a stunning 152 metres carried.
12. Josua Tuisova – 8.5
An absolute wrecking ball at times. Left bodies scattered with every carry and gave Scotland’s midfield plenty to think about even without crossing the whitewash himself.
13. Sireli Maqala – 7
Made smart reads in defence and linked nicely when Fiji played out wide. Won the penalty that led to Ikanivere’s try, although he was responsible for a couple of penalties himself.
14. Kalaveti Ravouvou – 8
Took his try brilliantly just before the break and posed a threat every time he got the ball. Composed under the high ball and a constant presence out wide. A couple of missed tackles blotted the copybook.
15. Salesi Rayasi – 7.5
Didn’t get a mountain of chances but made the most of the ones he did, with his offload for Ravouvou’s score a textbook effort. More than steady at the back.
Replacements – 6.5
Sam Matavesi kept the lineout stable, while Albert Tuisue and Mesake Vocevoce added punch late on. Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula and Vilimoni Botitu kept the shape when the game loosened up. The front row replacements held the line without shifting the dial.
