Matthieu Jalibert Bio

Matthieu Jalibert is an impressive fly half who has played for Bordeaux Bègles since 2017 and the French national team since 2018.

Jalibert was born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye on 6 November 1998. Between 2004 and 2007, he resided overseas in the French territory of New Caledonia. When he returned to France he joined CA Bordeaux Bègles, before progressing to Union Bordeaux Bègles. At the age of just 16, he helped CA Bordeaux Bègles reach the final of the under-18 championship.

His consistency and impressive form were quickly recognised and, in 2017, he made his first appearance for the Bordeaux Bègles senior squad. Less than a year later, at just 19 years of age, he made his debut for France during the 2018 Six Nations Championship. Sadly, he was injured during the game and remained so for the rest of the season.

He was able to return to rugby in late 2019 and his performances earned him an immediate recall to the France team for the 2020 Six Nations. Since, he’s regularly battled for the starting fly half spot and was named in France’s squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup

Matthieu Jalibert’s rugby career took off early on and his continuous efforts after returning from an injury have been highly rewarded. As such a fast rising star, we can’t wait to see where his next few seasons take him.
