Feyi-Waboso returns as England change 12 for USA with 6 debutants
Immanuel Feyi-Waboso is set to play his first Test match of 2025 in a much-changed England team that will take on the USA on Saturday.
Following their 2-0 series win over Argentina, where head coach Steve Borthwick kept his changes to a minimum between matches, there have been 12 changes from the starting XV that triumphed in San Juan for the match in Washington, D.C.
Only captain George Ford, last week’s debutant Luke Northmore and lock Alex Coles remain in an XV that contains three debutants – Sale Sharks full-back Joe Carpenter, Bath centre Max Ojomoh and Gloucester lock Arthur Clark.
There are a further three uncapped players on the bench – Bristol Bears hooker Gabriel Oghre, Gloucester fly-half Charlie Atkinson and Harlequins centre Oscar Beard.
Feyi-Waboso missed England’s victories over the Pumas while serving a ban for the red card against France XV at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium in June – the only match he has played so far this year.
The Exeter Chiefs star will start on the right wing with Harlequins’ Cadan Murley handed a start on the left after a try-scoring cameo from the bench last week. In fact, the entire bench last week have been rewarded with starts, where the likes of Guy Pepper and match-winner Jack van Poortvliet will want to show that they can make an equal impact from the start.
“We know the USA will present a tough challenge,” said Borthwick. “There’s been a great spirit in the squad throughout this tour. The players have worked hard for each other and pushed standards every day. Those selected this weekend have earned their chance through their effort and attitude.
“We aim to keep building the squad, learn from every experience, and deliver a performance that our supporters can be proud of.”
