So we gathered a group of experts together and set them the *not* so simple task of ranking the world’s best players from 50-1.

Naturally, with so many players at the peak of their powers, there was heated debate around this topic. But it’s not simply a matter of ranking players purely by their achievements.

After much deliberation we’ve whittled down the list, and with representation from nine different countries, the RugbyPass team have come up with the current top 50 women’s rugby players in the world.

We know there’ll be disagreements and alternatives to what we’ve come up with, but it goes without saying, this isn’t a closed debate but an invitation to converse and celebrate the players that make up the game we love.

2 questions:

1. Who are the voters and/or how many voters are there?

2. What is the ranking system used to generate this list?

Cheers 😁

I have read a few womens lists over the years and usually the womens rugby media makes them as inclusive as possible-so instead of being the actual best-they will have as many players from as many countries as possible. There are also certain players the media are obsessed with-illona maher, natasha hunt for example-who will no doubt be high up even though their actual international form in the 15 a side game should not rank them highly. Maher has done nothing to warrant being in the top 50 for 15 a side besides a huge media profile and Hunt has gone missing in all englands big games recently and is one of the weak links in the england side right now.
