Jamie George Bio

Born in Welwyn Garden City in October 1990, Jamie George first played for his local team, Hertford RFC. He was then taken on by the Saracens Academy at the age of 14.

Following a number of short loan spells in the lower divisions of English rugby, in which he impressed the Saracens coaching team, he went on to make his debut for the senior side in the 2009-10 season. However, this proved to be his only appearance during the season and instead he played for Saracens Storm in the A league, to continue his development.

The hard work eventually paid off for Jamie George, and in the following season he made 20 appearances for Saracens, scoring two tries and helping the side win their first Premiership title.

To date, Jamie George has made over 300 appearances for Saracens. During this time, he's also amassed a wealth of club honours, including multiple Premiership titles and Heineken Cups.

Added to this, Jamie George has experienced similar levels of success on the international stage. He represented his country at U16, U18 and U20 level before making his debut for the national side in the buildup to the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He went on to play several times in the competition and has since become a regular on the team sheet.

During his time with the national team, Jamie George has amassed more than 100 caps. He’s also won multiple Six Nations Championships (including a Grand Slam in 2016) and played for his country in a Rugby World Cup final. Between 2024 and 2025, he was also the England captain. He’s since relinquished the role to Saracens teammate Maro Itoje

In addition, as well as being a standout performer for England, Jamie George has also featured on two British and Irish Lions tours. In 2017, he played in all three tests on the squad’s tour of New Zealand. In 2021, he played in the opening match against Japan and three tour matches but did not feature in the tests.

Jamie George is undoubtedly a legend of both Saracens and England rugby. We can’t wait to see what he achieves next.
