It is with great honour and humility that I welcome members, friends and visitors alike to our Rathdrum RFC website. I was elected President for the 2008/09 season and I look forward to serving the club to the best of my ability over the next year.
2008 is an exciting year for Rathdrum as it sees our senior 1sts compete in the second division of the Leinster League having won promotion from division 3 last year. I wish our club captain, David Walshe; head coach Jason Emery, assistant coach Morgan Sheridan and director of Rugby Dave Fox well in their aspirations for the season.
Our senior ladies team captained by Sue Brady can also look forward to an exciting year; with an influx of new players and the guidance of Dave Fox they are in a great position to cement Rathdrum as the home of women’s rugby in Co. Wicklow.
To our youths and minis, enjoy your rugby, listen to your coaches and most importantly have fun. Rathdrum was founded by friends and friendships that you make in rugby are lifelong. A massive thanks to youth co-ordinator Dave Cross and his team of underage coaches who give up their valuable time to help guide the club’s most prized assets, our stars of the future.
We thank all the club sponsors, especially the Cartoon Inn who kindly host our post match functions and all those who have helped us out with our various events throughout the year. We look forward to your continued support in the future.
Rathdrum has the smallest population of any village with a rugby team in Leinster, but it is this sense of community that stands out; we are not just members of a rugby club, we are friends.
I look forward to greeting many of you friends throughout the season, your support is vital and much appreciated.
